The owners of Centerpiece, downtown Highland Park’s much-loved and highly-successful craft and gift gallery, have announced plans to leave their current location.
Sheryl Magaziner, co-owner of the shop, which has been located at 312 Raritan Avenue for seven years, says the decision to move, and temporarily close at the end of May, came after lease negotiations with building owners broke down.
“When it comes down to it, we’ve lost our lease,” Magaziner said. “And so we’ve made the tough choice to close for now, and seek out the perfect new location.”
To celebrate the move, Centerpiece will be holding a huge sale, with most merchandise marked down 25 percent, starting immediately. Magaziner says that the 25-percent discount will apply to all items now on display in the store, other than those on consignment.
“I’m planning to take a bit of time off in June and then hope to get right back to it,” Magaziner said. “It will be a good time to change things up a bit, to reinvent ourselves so to speak. We’ll be looking to keep doing what works, and change what’s not. We’ll want to retain our longtime, loyal shoppers – who we appreciate so much – and hopefully get some new ones. My plan is to have a presence here on the (Raritan) avenue well in advance of the holiday season.”
Centerpiece carries hand-made fine crafts of all disciplines and mediums, including jewelry, ceramics and accessories. Additionally Centerpiece carries unique small production items that are hard to find elsewhere.
